Boulder Flower Farm Wedding | Dresden + Max

Nestled at the northern edge of Boulder, surrounded by rolling fields, farmland, and fresh mountain air, Boulder Flower Farm set the stage for a wedding that perfectly blended modern style with natural beauty. Every detail of the day reflected the couple’s effortless sophistication. The setting at the Boulder Flower farm includes flower fields that boast tons of vibrant colors, along with a charming cottage style home with a patio perfect for cocktail hour. Big mature trees throughout the venue provide tons of shade for cooling off and getting mid day photos without shadow. I love how big and grand the spaces around the property feel because they give several opportunities to create different vibes during the planning of a wedding day.

The day wouldn’t have gone off without the help of the phenomenal vendor team. Particularly Curate Denver who planned every detail meticulously and kept everyone working in tandem so that no detail was missed and the design of the day was effortless and luxurious. Seriously their planning team is the real deal and you will see how much of their hard work is reflected in the details throughout the day.

The morning started with some recovery from the night before and the CU Buffs were playing a big football game in town which made the city of Boulder vibrant full of school cheer. Since the groom, Max is an alumni of the school it was fitting for him and his buddies to return back to their glory days during a big game day to celebrate with each other. They all stayed in a VRBO on the hill in Boulder Colorado where the big modern looking house provided a great space to get ready for the day. The groom wore a really nicely tailored suit with a floral tie detail from Indochino, while the groomsmen looked really well put together in black suits. I really appreciated the additional details that each groomsmen wore down to gold and black buttons with matching cuff links, and Max gifted them each a pair of gold sunglasses (to match coach Sanders of the CU Buffs, of course) to wear throughout the day.

Nearby the girls got ready at a family home just north of Pearl St in Boulder. One of the details Dresden added into her wardrobe was silky platform heels in a baby blue color. I feel like it’s so fun to mix up bridal shoes and get away from the classic white and go for a pop of color. Her dress was also fabulous with a sleek silk fabric cascading from a corseted top with a lace back. The details of the draping in the bust area and on the lower back were so chic and timeless to mix with the modern fabric of the silk. Her mom emotionally helped her do the final zip into the dress just before her dad came to do a first look with her. Dresden (the bride) and her father were emotional in the sweetest and most heartfelt way seeing one another just before walking down the aisle to get Dresden married. I love when families don’t hold back their emotions during these precious moments because it really tells a story of their care for one another.

Upon arriving at Boulder Flower Farm we got a glimpse of the stunning ceremony space complete with wood brown chairs, and a fan placed on each chair for guests to use during the ceremony. The floral arragements looked as if they were growing out of the ground under the frame of two giant trees. With all the greenery of the ceremony space, the pink, orange, and white florals make the ceremony space pop and feel very elevated.

The ceremony itself was so incredibly emotional and special. The grooms dad was the officiant and I think it made such a difference feeling very personal to the couple’s story that way. Max walked down with his mom, followed by a processional of bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing black suits and mismatched green bridesmaids dresses with pink, orange, and white florals. When Max saw Dresden down the aisle everyone (including me) was holding back tears. Escorted by her dad, Dresden was glowing with joy to see Max. The ceremony was short with a beautiful story about their lives, and “I do” commitments to one another. One of my favorite moments of the whole day is after the two walk down the aisle and Max is absolutely admiring the heck out of his new wife - taking in how beautiful she is.

I always like to let the emotions flow before getting deep into family portraits - you can probably gather why just from these few images taken directly after the ceremony where everyone is greeting the couple for the first time after they have officially married.

The lighting was mostly cloudy for the day so we truly got lucky to have the sun come out for our portrait session to see the sun glow through Dresden’s beautiful floor length veil. Whenever possible I also love to use a blue sky as a backdrop and since we had such a limited sliver of time to catch the sky out I was really happy to have a few different places to take these two for a few quick portraits.

Guests were greeted from cocktail hour to find their seats in the reception tent with Vuve Clicot red. Champagne glasses were tied with each persons name and table number complete with a slim bow tied with black ribbon on to each glass. It was a beautiful display for table numbers and a great way to combine pouring champagne for a toast while also making use of table number indicators for each person.

The reception tent was so thoughtfully designed by Curate and the vendor team. The seating arrangement was such that family style tables sat around the outside perimeter of the rent in a rectangle, with a black and white dance floor in the middle. This allowed for the space to feel very open and grand, but the family style seating made things still feel intimate. White table cloths with heavy fabric and a little woven texture, modern flat bottom round plates, black silverware, with a green glass was along each place setting. A printed menu atop the place settings with each guests name was thoughtfully designed to ensure everyone had a place at dinner and felt welcomed. Bud vases and center piece floral arrangements with a variety of color and textures brought the space to life by adding a hint of color wile keeping the classic look of the greens and creams. Drool worthy.

The Get Down kept the party running all night long with some absolute bangers and tasteful music. If you can get this team as your DJ for your wedding day DO IT. I’ve never seen a dull moment on a dance floor with their team. Little man ice cream came later on in the night as the moon rose over the horizon. I can never say no to salted oreo ice cream to go with my scream singing on a poppin’ dancefloor.

In the end, amidst the rain and laughter, M and A's luxury backyard wedding in Boulder, Colorado, was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the beauty of embracing life's unexpected moments. As they danced the night away, surrounded by the ones they hold dear, they knew that their love story was just beginning, a journey filled with endless possibilities and boundless love.

From start to finish, this Boulder Flower Farm wedding was a celebration of beauty, family, and emotion — a day that perfectly captured what makes Boulder such a magical place to say “I do.”
