Woodlands Colorado Wedding | M + J

Many couples in Colorado are looking for a venue that mixes the grand views of the mountains and the convenience of being close to Denver. The convenience of Woodlands Colorado is the perfect mix that checks all the boxes for colorado couples looking for a mountain venue with a modern twist.

A few highlights to know about the venue!

What are the views at the Woodlands Colorado?

Nestled in the foothills this venue is a great mix of foothills and being down in the forest. It has all confierous trees meaning they don’t lose leaves in the winter and look beautiful and green all year long. Coupled with the setting of being nestled right in the mountains of the rockies, Woodlands hosts grand views and a fresh air mountain vibe. The modern building is a white barn that feels classic and fresh.

How far is the venue from Denver?

The venue is just about 30 minutes outside the city of Denver and is located in Morrison, CO. Because it’s located on a mountain road off of i70 the traffic is rarely an issue! There are plenty of parking for guests who choose to drive themselves. Additionall, there are several shuttle services that are used by guests to transport guests to and from the city on the night of a wedding.

What are the getting ready spaces like?

The main getting ready suite is a separate space entirely from the main venue and has a great cottage with it’s own bathroom and a line of mirrors and counter for hair and makeup to get done. The cottage space is a fresh white with black trim that matches the aesthetic of the main barn well and has incredible lighting for indoor photos. There’s a seating area for everyone to enjoy as well as a nice deck that is well hidden from the venue so indoor and outdoor spaces can be enjoyed even if your partner is at the venue getting ready too. The second getting ready suite has a moodier vibe and is in the main building of the venue. There’s a gorgeous dark blue wall, seating, a television, and a pool table to hand out and relax around and get ready with your close friends. The two getting ready spaces are well separated such that you and your partner can easily relax without accidentally bumping into one another if you don’t choose to. In order to include their dog, M and J had a dog handler bring their baby to do a first look and a few sweet portraits with them prior to the ceremony.

Ceremony

The good news when it comes to ceremony spaces at the Woodlands is that you have options. The outdoor ceremony space has a stellar view of the foothills and is just raised above the forested area below so you get a mix of trees in the foreground and mountain views in the background. There’s also the option to do an indoor ceremony if the weather does not permit or if you decide to have a winter wedding. J and M decided to do their wedding outside and had the perfect weather for it. The barn doors of the venue open up for a grand reveal of M as she walks down the aisle with her parent in a beautiful and dramatic reveal to all friends and family. Their ceremony had rentals from the venue and DIY flowers done by M herself. Pretty epic florals for her first try, I’d say!

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour has several different places for guests to hang out and I love that there’s a heated and sheltered patio at this venue with plenty of space for many people to hang out. It really does come in handy if it’s just slightly chilly during the day or if there’s a small storm cloud that rolls over for 15 minutes. There’s also grassy areas with cornhole, seating, and other games for people to lounge around and talk to new and old friends during the wedding cocktail hour. The wealth of outdoor space to hang out at combined with the exterior bar space makes it easy for guests to enjoy cocktail hour while they wait for the rehearsal to start. It also happens to be picture perfect spot for couples and families to snap photos of their own while they are dressed to the nines.

Reception

The indoor reception space holds over 150 people and rentals from Woodlands include chairs and tables that suit all different needs. M and J opted for a sweetheart table for their set up with many round tables with their guests they were able to greet throughout the night. There was still plenty of space for a dance floor without having to break down tables which is a HUGE bonus for people to not suddenly wonder where their coats went after music starts. The sounds system in the place is the perfect amount of party and you can always bet on a good DJ like Colorado Wedding Productions to bring the party.
